Step 0: Install Dot Copilot On Your Android Device
Dot Copilot is very powerful and useful, you need to install it before using it.
What can Dot Copilot do?
- Extract schedule details from chats and add them to your Calendar app.
- Pull to-dos from chats or screenshots and add them to your Reminders.
- Extract expense data from texts or receipts and sync it to Google Sheets.
- Translate on-screen text or messages from international friends.
- Get help replying to chats on WhatsApp, Telegram, Line, and more.
- Generate engaging comments for Reddit, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and Facebook.
- Summarize web page content quickly and efficiently.
Step 1: Enable Floating Window Permission
The floating window is essential for accessing Dot Copilot quickly and effortlessly.
- Open Settings on your Android device.
- Search for "Floating Window" in the settings search bar (exact terms may vary by device).
- Locate Dot Copilot in the list of apps.
- Enable the toggle for Allow Display Over Other Apps or Floating Window Permission.
- Open the Dot Copilot app, enable the floating assistant, and a blue Dot will appear on the screen.
Now, Dot Copilot's floating button will appear on your screen, allowing you to summon the assistant at any time by simply tapping on it.
Step 2: Set Up Custom Commands
Dot Copilot allows you to create custom commands tailored to your needs. Here's how:
- Open Dot Copilot:
- Tap the + New Command menu.
- Create a New Command:
- Define a name of your command (e.g., "Summarize my email").
- Set the prompt of your command which will send to ChatGPT, it should inclue the output format.
- Set the type of your command, currently, it only support the type of Copy.
- Set the On/Off status of your new command, set to On if you will use it.
- Save and Test:
- Save the command when all information are filled.
- Back to any app you are using then tap the Dot Copilot's blue dot on your screen.
- Select your command which you defined before then get the result.
Example: Create a command like "Comment any tweet" that automatically generate a custom-styled comment based on the content of the Tweet..
Step 3: Parse Receipts into Google Sheets
Dot Copilot can help you extract data from receipts and automatically upload it into a Google Sheet. Follow these steps:
- Grant access to Google Sheet:
- Create a Google Sheet using the template, template address: Google Sheet Template, Do not change the CashFlow sheet name
- Share your Google Sheet to email: [email protected] with editor role.
- Get your Google Sheet ID from the URL: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uJw0kE8okxTUsnHKuWIibasaivLkcW0rr26quY94XkBOo/edit, the blue part is Google Sheet ID.
- Open Dot Copilot application, Then go to Account -> Google Sheet Config -> Paste Google Sheet ID -> Finally Save.
- Activate Dot Copilot:
- Tap the floating button to open Dot Copilot.
- Then select the Track expenses and deposits item from menu shown.
- Process the Receipt:
- AI will "Take a screenshot" after you choose the action.
- Dot Copilot will extract key details such as the store name, date, itemized list, and total cost.
- Dot Copilot will push these data to Google Sheet automatically.
- Verify the data:
- Open the Google Sheet to confirm the data has been correctly formatted and saved.
